INTENSIVE WORKSHOP of AUDITION PREPARATION and CAREER SKILLS.

WHAT-WHERE and HOW of job hunting and auditioning for young singers. Containing lectures and audition simulating practise, individual consultation and group sessions to answer your questions and build a strategy for a successful career.

– Global work situation, entrepreneurship contra being employed;
– different jobs as soloists or choir.
– Contracts
– Fach definitions
– Audition types
– Repertoire choises
– Pr, demo, CV materials
– Building a career, agents, competitions
– How to find auditions?
– Personal consultations (the timetable depends on amount of participants)
– Singing, good repertoire practise and choises, presentation
– How to dress etc

Workshop 1: March – 2 and 3 (we will meet at 12.00 on the 2nd of March)
Workshop 2: April – 6 and 7
Workshop 3: May – 4 and 5 (ending with an audition for agents).

The LECTURER:

MARGARETA Haverinen BRANDT,
Doctor of Music, Opera singer, Voice pedagogue Leading lecturer of Career Skills and Audition preparation at the Sibelius-Academy of the University of Arts, Helsinki. She studied both singing and violin performance at the Sibelius-Academy in Helsinki. Her early success in international singing competitions in Geneva and Moscow lead to invitations from Europe´s finest orchestras and conductors. Her repertoire covers over 60 major works with orchestra from Beethoven to Luigi Nono. Margareta´s lied-repertoire consists of nearly 2000 art songs among which 24 full song cycles. With different famous pianists she has had recitals on international concert stages including the New York Carnegie and Kliburn Hall, the Casals Hall in Tokyo and the Barbican Center in London etc. Since her operatic debut at the Finnish National Opera in the title role of Madame Butterfly Margareta has sung in numerous productions of this company (Brünnhilde, Amelia, Salome, Tosca, Donna Anna, Tatyana etc). And a lot of roles of dramatic leading ladies in performances on festivals at the Barbican Center, Aix-en-Provence, Savonlinna etc.
