Virumaa Music Festival is created with the aim of offering concert experiences in the Ida-Viru and Lääne-Viru County region with performances by Estonia’s best musicians. A total of seven concerts will be held at the first festival – Iisaku, Väike-Maarja, Roela, Aseri and Kohtla-Järve cultural institutions, and the final concert in Tallinn Town Hall. The festival makes a bow to the early-departed tenor Vello Jürna in commemoration of his 60th birthday. Vello’s friends will come together in both Väike-Maarja as well as Town Hall, and will reminisce on a friendship with an outstanding tenor. As part of the festival’s youth program, top musicians will carry out workshops for various instruments at Jõhvi, Väike-Maarja, Rakvere, Kohtla-Järve and Kunda music schools and there will be school concerts at Jõhvi general education schools. The festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture and several rural municipalities of Viru County.
